The determination of the FR-4 material Dielectric Constant Ԑr by a cavity resonance.
If you have an ability to measure a PCB's cavity resonance, you can, with great accuracy, determinate the real relative permittivity Ԑr of your board material. To do this, take a piece of your FR-4 (or other) and seal (solder) all four ends with copper.
Next, measure the cavity resonance first frequency (the lowest) and use this calculator to find the real Ԑr of your PCB material.
